Michael Lasswell

Member at Large

For the past 40 years Michael Lasswell has been making his living in the professional theatre. As an Actor, Director, Set Designer and Playwright he has won numerous Regional Awards from Coast to Coast. In the last Chicago Revival of Private Lives, at ShawChicago he played the leading role of Elyot (the role originated by Noel Coward). Last summer Dunes audiences saw his eye popping scenery for Boeing, Boeing, the Broadway Caberet, and Tick, Tick, BOOM. For A.R.T. in Portland Oregon, he directed Gross Indecency, Honey in the Horn, and Graham Greene’s Travels With My Aunt. He also directed “Travels,” for Syracuse Stage, Virginia Stage, and Dorset Theatre Festival in Vermont. For Florida Studio Theatre in Sarasota, Michael was asked back repeatedly to Direct such plays as Blues in the Night, As Bees in Honey Drown, 37 Postcards, and Smoke and Mirrors. He set Designs have also been crowd pleasers at Oak Park Festival Theatre, American Stage Company, Central City Opera, Finger Lakes Opera, the Asolo State Theatre, The Hippodrome Theatre, Northwestern University, and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. He is currently hard at work writing his new Comedy, Woodchuck Justice -- a True Crime Farce, about a murder victim who shows up alive, leading to America’s first Death Row Exoneration.
